• APPLICATION

  • Designed for pre-drilling and countersinking Starborn Structural screws flushed to surface in both wood and structural composite lumber. All components must be used together as instructed to ensure proper function.

 

  • The following structural screws can be used with this tool:
    • STRUCTURAL F19 (18mm Forstner Bit)
    • STRUCTURAL F23 Stainless (18mm Forstner Bit)
    • STRUCTURAL F23 (20mm Forstner Bit)

  • FEATURES

    • Delivers clean professional results for exposed structural screws on decks, pergolas, exposed beams, and more
    • Forstner bits available in 18mm or 20mm for surface fastening
    • Smart-Bit Depth Setter Collar prevents damage to wood surface
    • Countersink matches head shape of Starborn STRUCTURAL F19 and F23 epoxy coated screws; and F23 Stainless screws
    • Engineered and made in Germany

  • CORRECT USE

    • Align the underside of the Depth Setting Collar with the groove on the 18mm and 20mm Forstner bits and tighten the set screw until the Depth Setting Collar is firmly in place.
    • Pre-drill with the Forstner bit in a straight and steady fashion until the Depth Setting Collar stops spinning. Remove any debris from the countersink.
    • Drive the appropriate structural screw so that it is fully seated in the countersink (Do not overdrive).

  • REPLACING PRE-DRILL BIT

    • Disconnect power and remove the SMART-BIT® Tool from the drill.
    • Loosen the set screw with the included hex wrench.
    • Remove old bit and insert a new bit fully into the countersink portion with the flat side facing the set screw.
    • Tighten the set screw.
    • Use only SMART-BIT® STRUCTURAL replacement bits.
